Andy Pettitte looked like he was in mid season form tonight when he pitched 8 shutout innings against the Reds to lead the Yankees to a 4-0 victory.

Pettitte allowed just 4 hits in his 8 inning shut out. He struck out 9 and walked 1. He threw 115 pitches and 78 of them were for strikes.

The Yankees offense still continued to struggle with men on base. They were 0-7 with runners in scoring position.

The Yankees offense came from a RBI groundout by Alex Rodriguez in the 3rd inning. Robinson Cano hit a solo shot in the 8th and Raul Ibanez hit a 2-run shot in the 8th as well.

The Yankees and Reds will play game 2 of 3 tomorrow.
