C.C. Sabathia had done what Joe Girardi and the Yankees could have hoped. Sabathia was lights out tonight to secure the series win.

Sabathia allowed 2 runs, all unearned on 7 hits. He struck out 10 and walked 1. He threw 119 pitches and out of those 119, 81 were thrown for strikes.

C.C. was backed up by the Yankees offense that jumped on David Price. Curtis Granderson homered in the 2nd inning to cut the Rays lead to 2-1. The Yankees would tie the game later that inning on a Chris Stewart RBI single to plate Eduardo Nunez.

Robinson Cano would break the tie in the 5th inning with a 2 run shot to left center. Alex Rodriguez would be next and he hit a double to center field. After a Mark Teixeira walk and Curtis Granderson double play ball, Andruw Jones would drive in Alex Rodriguez with a double of his own to increase their lead to 5-2.

That would be all that C.C. Sabathia would need to notch his 5th win of the season.

The Yankees and Mariners will start a 3 game set tomorrow night in the Bronx.

As always, lineups will be posted before the game.
