Yankees HOPE Week: Children's Alopecia Project

The Yankees will conclude HOPE Week on Friday by honoring the Children's Alopecia Project and their founders, the Woytovich family. This project helps all children who are suffering from loss of hair due to Alopecia. Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disease that is not life threatening, but life changing. It is not contagious and you cannot catch it, nor does it hurt. It is basically a disease where you body is allergic to hair, so it falls out. The Woytovich family started this project after finding out that their daughter, Madison, has this disease. Betsy and Jeff Woytovich searched online to see if their were any networks that dealt with this disease, but there were none. With that, Jeff was inspired to start Children's Alopecia Project.

The Yankees will honor the project and their founders today for their hard work and dedication to the project. Yankee players Alex Rodriguez, Freddy Garcia, Andruw Jones, Ivan Nova, Rafael Soriano, Cory Wade, and DeWayne Wise will all attend. Yankees manager Joe Girardi and bullpen coach Mike Harkey will also be there to support this project. Former players Darryl Strawberry and David Wells will also make a surprise visit. Current HOPE Week ambassador Eric LeGrand, and  Bleacher Creature, "Bald Vinny" Milano will be there as well. Everyone is attendance will honor this project by hosting a picnic at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. Activities include free face and head paintings, a scavenger hunt, and lunch and games. After the game, The kids will be invited back to Yankee to stadium to watch batting practice and take part in a pre-game ceremonies. They will them be invited to Yankee Stadium to watch the game between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox.

The Yankees will also donate $10,000 to this project.
