The Yankees were able to top the Mets Saturday night after a seventh inning rally that led to the victory. Ivan  Nova started for the Yankees and pitched well.

Ivan Nova allowed 3 runs, 2 in which were earned, on 5 hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out 7 and walked 3. Nova threw 99 pitches, 61 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee offense was silent until the 7th inning when Mark Teixeira led off the inning with a walk. Nick Swisher would double on a ball misplayed by Lucas Duda in right field. Raul Ibanez would hit a game tying 3 run home run to right field that barley made it over the wall. Eric Chavez would pinch hit for the pitcher and hit a go ahead solo shot to left field.

The Yankees scored 4 in the seventh and that would be all that they needed to earn the victory.

The Yankee bullpen was outstanding tonight. They worked 3 1/3 innings and only allowed 2 hits.

Boone Logan would relieve Cody Eppley in the seventh inning with a man on third and one out. He would escape the jam by striking out the two batters that he faced.

David Robertson would come on in the eighth and strike out the side. Robertson would walk 2 batters in the inning, but he would work out of his self-made jam.

Rafael Soriano would close the game out in the ninth and earn his 14th save on the season.

Clay Rapada also pitched 1/3 of an inning and he struck out the only batter that he faced.

The Yankees and Mets will conclude the Subway Series tomorrow night.
