The Yankees were able to snap their four game losing streak on Monday when they defeated the Seattle Mariners 4-1.
Hiroki Kuroda received the start and he was outstanding. Kuroda allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 7 innings of work. He struck out 9 and only walked 1. Kuroda exited with 107 pitches, in which 65 of them were for strikes.
The Yankees did their damage offensivley in the fourth inning in which they scored three runs. Mark Teixeira, Raul Ibanez, and Andruw Jones all colected an RBI in the inning.
Alex Rodriguez would add to their lead with a solo blast to left center field in the eighth inning. It was his 15th save on the year.
Rafael Soriano came on in the ninth and collected his 25th save on the season.
The Yankees and Mariners will play Game 2 of 3 tomorrow.
