The Yankees were able to pick up a win in the finale of their three game set with the Rays. The Yankees rallied late to avoid the sweep.

David Phelps started for the Yankees and he pitched well. Phelps allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4 1/3 innings pitched. He struck out 8 and walked 3. He left the game with 81 pitches. 47 of those 81 pitches were strikes.

The Yankees were trailing 3-1 going into the eighth inning and they were able to get the bases loaded via the walk with only one out. Alex Rodriguez was up with the bases loaded and he walked in a run to make it 3-2. Robinson Cano was next and he laced a 2 run single to center field to give them the 4-3 lead late.

Rafael Soriano would come on in the ninth and notch his 19th save on the season.

The Yankees will enjoy an off day Thursday and begin a four game set with the Red Sox on Friday.
