Roster Moves: Cervelli, Nova, Nuno, Romine

The Yankees have made some roster moves on Saturday as they placed two players on the disabled list along with calling up two players from Triple-A.

Francisco Cervelli and Ivan Nova have been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to their injuries they suffered on Friday. Cervelli underwent successful surgery to repair his fractured right hand while Ivan Nova has been diagnosed with right tricep inflammation.

As a result of their injuries, the Yankees have called up catcher, Austin Romine, and left-hander, Vidal Nuno. Nuno will serve as the teams long reliever in the bullpen as David Phelps will replace Ivan Nova in the rotation.

Nuno posted a 1-1 record with a 0.61 ERA in seven games during spring training. With his outstanding performance in spring training, Nuno earned the 2013 James P. Dawson award, which is an award given annually to the Yankee rookie that performs the best during spring training.

In other news, the Yankees have moved Derek Jeter from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL in order to make room for Vidal Nuno on the 40-man roster.
