The Yankees were able to defeat the Tigers on Wednesday as they defeated them 12-8. C.C. Sabathia was able to pick up his 12th win and snap the Yankees two game slide.

Sabathia allowed 5 runs on 8 hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. He struck out 7 and walked 1. Sabathia was taken out in the seventh inning with only 94 pitches thrown, in which 67 of them were for strikes.

David Robertson came on to relieve Sabathia and he struggled quite a bit. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 1 inning of work. He struck out 1 and did not walk any.

The Yankees were able to get on the board early as they score two in the first. They would later score three in the third, two in the fourth, one in the seventh, two in the eighth, and two in the ninth. The Yankees once had a 7-0 lead, but the Tigers would battle back to make the game closer than it should have been.

Rafael Soriano came on in the ninth inning and pitched a scoreless inning. It wasn't a save opportunity, but he was able to get some work in.

The Yankees and Tigers will conclude their four game set tomorrow.

Derek Jeter Passes Frank Robinson on All-Time Runs List

The Yankees were unable to defeat the Tigers for a second straight night after their ninth inning rally fell just short as they were defeated 6-5.

Phil Hughes started for the Yankees and he was given the early exit. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 4 1/3 innings of work. He struck out 3 and did not walk any. He threw 102 pitches, in which 69 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee offense was started in the fourth inning after a two-run shot by Eric Chavez to give them the early lead. The Tigers would battle back in their half of the fourth inning to tie the game, and then later take the lead in the fifth inning.

The Yankees had a rally going in the ninth inning when they were able to score two runs off of Tiger's closer, Jose Valverde. Curtis Granderson popped out with runners on second and third to end the game.
