The Yankees were able to knock off the Orioles in the American League Division Series as they defeated them 3-1. C.C. Sabathia proved why he is an ace as he pitched a gem tonight. With him win tonight, C.C. Sabathia has picked up his first career postseason complete game. It is the first time that a player has pitched a complete game in the postseason for the Yankees since Roger Clemens in 2001.

Sabathia allowed 1 run on 4 hits in his complete game gem tonight. He struck out 9 batters and walked 2. Sabathia came out firing tonight as he had good command with all of his pitches. He finished the game with 121 pitches thrown, in which 78 of them were for strikes.

C.C. Sabathia worked into a jam in the eighth inning. With one run already in and the bases loaded with only one out, Sabathia struck out Nate McLouth on a nasty slider. He would then get J.J. Hardy to groundout to Jeter, who made a nice play on a slow roller.

The Yankee offense was able to score first tonight as they tookthe lead in the fifth inning on a Raul Ibanez RBI single to plate Mark Teixeira. They would go on to score in the sixth inning as well on a Ichiro Suzuki RBI double that scored Derek Jeter.

Curtis Granderson swung a hot bat tonight, despite slumping throughout the series, as he launched a solo shot to right field in the seventh inning.

The Yankees will welcome the Tigers tomorrow night when those two teams begin the American League Championship Series.

The Yankee bullpen was impressive again tonight as they kept the Orioles off of the scoreboard until the thirteenth inning.

David Phelps allowed a go-ahead double to J.J. Hardy, which sealed the win for the Orioles.

The Yankee offensive woes continued tonight as they were only able to plate one run. As a team, they cwere 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and they left ten runners on base.

Hiroki Kuroda - Division Series - Baltimore Orioles v New York Yankees - Game Three

Raul Ibanez did it again. Just when you thought the Yankees lost a crucial Game 3, Joe Girardi made a gutsy move to pinch hit Raul Ibanez for Alex Rodriguez, which paid off. Ibanez jumped on a 1-0 pinch and belted it into the right field seats to tie the game a two. But he wasn't done. With the game still tied a two in the twelfth  Ibanez would come up again and launch a solo shot to deep right , which sent the Yankee off to a Game 3 win.

Hiroki Kuroda started for the Yankees and he was brilliant. Kuroda allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 8 1/3 innings of work. He stuck out 3 and walked only 1 batter. Kuroda finished his night with 105 pitches thrown, in which 65 of them were for strikes.

Kuroda made two mistakes tonight: A solo shot to Ryan Flaherty and a solo shot to Manny Machado.

The Yankee bullpen was outstanding tonight as well. Boone Logan, Rafael Soriano, and David Robertson limited the Orioles to just 2 hits over 3 2/3 innings.

David Robertson pitched a scoreless eleventh and twelfth inning as he picked up the win tonight.

Down one going into the third, Derek Jeter drove in the first Yankee run with his RBI triple to center field which plated Russell Martin.

Derek Jeter left the game in the ninth inning after an apparent leg injury. Jeter fouled a ball off of his foot during an at-bat and he is listed as day-to-day.

The Yankees and Orioles will play Game 4 of the American League Division Series tomorrow night.
