The Yankees were able to knock off the Orioles in the American League Division Series as they defeated them 3-1. C.C. Sabathia proved why he is an ace as he pitched a gem tonight. With him win tonight, C.C. Sabathia has picked up his first career postseason complete game. It is the first time that a player has pitched a complete game in the postseason for the Yankees since Roger Clemens in 2001.

Sabathia allowed 1 run on 4 hits in his complete game gem tonight. He struck out 9 batters and walked 2. Sabathia came out firing tonight as he had good command with all of his pitches. He finished the game with 121 pitches thrown, in which 78 of them were for strikes.

C.C. Sabathia worked into a jam in the eighth inning. With one run already in and the bases loaded with only one out, Sabathia struck out Nate McLouth on a nasty slider. He would then get J.J. Hardy to groundout to Jeter, who made a nice play on a slow roller.

The Yankee offense was able to score first tonight as they tookthe lead in the fifth inning on a Raul Ibanez RBI single to plate Mark Teixeira. They would go on to score in the sixth inning as well on a Ichiro Suzuki RBI double that scored Derek Jeter.

Curtis Granderson swung a hot bat tonight, despite slumping throughout the series, as he launched a solo shot to right field in the seventh inning.

The Yankees will welcome the Tigers tomorrow night when those two teams begin the American League Championship Series.
