The Yankees were unable to defeat the Athletics on Friday night as they were victims of the walk-off hit in the 3-2 loss. Robinson Cano tied the game in the ninth inning that gave them a chance to win the game.
Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and he put them in a spot to win the game. Nova allowed 2 runs on 9 hits in 6 2/3 innings pitched. He struck out 6 and walked 2. He finished with 107 pitches thrown, in which 78 of them were for strikes. He took the no decision in tonight's contest.

The Yankees were able to get on the board in the eighth inning when Russell Martin hit his 10th home run on the season, a solo shot, to make it 2-1.

Robinson Cano tied the game in the ninth with a solo shot to left field, his 22nd of the season. Cano extended his hitting streak to 23 games in the seventh inning with a single to left field.

The Yankees and Athletics will play game three of four tomorrow.
