Yankees acquire Starlin Castro from Cubs


The Yankees and Cubs have agreed on a deal that will send Starlin Castro to the New York Yankees for pitcher Adam Warren and infielder Brendan Ryan.


These two teams were in talks about a possible trade regarding Starlin Castro and Brett Gardner, but failed to escalate further. 

Castro is a three time All-Star and has a career .281 batting average throughout his first six seasons in the big leagues. 

The deal was first reported by ESPN's Buster Olney, followed by Joel Sherman of the New York Post. 

Yankees Acquire OF Aaron Hicks from Twins


The Yankees have acquired outfielder Aaron Hicks from the Twins on Wednesday in exchange for young catcher John Ryan Murphy.

The Yankees announced the deal with the Twins on Wednesday at the GM meetings in Boca Raton, Florida.

Yankees Trade Jose Pirela to Padres


The Yankees and Padres agreed to a trade early Wednesday morning according to multiple sources. The Yankees sent utility man Jose Pirela to the Padres in exchange for minor league right-hander Ronald Herrera.

Ronald Herrera is not regarded as a top prospect and features a 90 mph fastball with some downward movement in the zone.
