Yankees bullpen can't hold lead late against Rays

The Yankees were unable to hold a late lead against the Rays on Friday as they were defeated 11-5 in what seemed like another win for the bombers.

After jumping out to an early 4-0 start, the Rays kept chipping away before taking a 6-5 lead in the seventh inning. In the very next inning, the Rays put up a crooked five spot in the bottom of the eighth inning. From that point on, the game was out of reach for the Yankees.

Hiroki Kuroda pitched well for the Yankees but picked up the no decision.

The Yankees and Rays will continue their four-game set tomorrow.

The Yankee offense was powered by Carlos Beltran, who hit a go-ahead two-run home run on a hanging curveball from Felix Doubront.

Sabathia, Yankees lose to Red Sox 4-2

The Yankees were unable to come up with back-to-back wins as they were defeated 4-2 on Friday night.

C.C. Sabathia looked very good, but one bad inning cost the Yankees the game. Sabathia left a hanging breaking ball over them middle of the plate which was hit for a three-run home run. Most of Sabathia's pitches were working well tonight as he was missing a lot of bats.

The Yankee offense was powered by Alfonso Soriano and Kelly Johnson as they both drove in runs.

Yankees lose close game against O's 5-4

The Yankees were unable to take the series against the Orioles tonight as they were defeated 5-4 in a close game.

Masahiro Tanaka was impressive again tonight and if it wasn't for one hanging splitter, he would have pitched a gem. Tanaka allowed one three runs, in which they came from a three-run home run. He struck out a caree high ten batters tonight.

The Yankee offense dug out of a early 3-0 hole to tie the game at three, but after the Orioles scored two in the ninth, the Yankees fell just short with just one in the ninth.

Yanks' blown out by Orioles 14-5

Team123456789RHE
Orioles31030403014200
Yankees1013000105130

The Yankees were defeated by the Orioles 14-5 today and this was obviously their worst loss of the season.

Ivan Nova started and he struggled right from the game by allowing three runs in the first inning. Things would get worse from there as he departed after allowing seven runs. This is his second start of the season and he hopes to forget this one.

The Yankee offense showed signs of life throughout the game, but when they got back into it, the Yankee pitching would give up more runs.

The Yankees hope to forget this game and move on to the finale tomorrow night.

Yankees place David Robertson on 15-day DL

The Yankees have placed their closer, David Robertson, on the 15-day DL with a Grade 1 strain of his left groin strain.

Initially, he thought it would go away overnight, but notified the team Monday morning and was quickly sent for a MRI.

Shawn Kelley will likely close out ballgames for now on until Robertson makes recovers.

The Yankee offense was effective today. As a team they scored four runs on eight hits. Jacoby Ellsbury, Kelly Johnson, and Yangervis Solarte all contributed with RBI's in the win. Derek Jeter grounded into a double play to score Solarte in the third inning.

The Yankees took two-out-of-three against the Blue Jays in their three game set as they defeated them 6-4 today behind ace, C.C. Sabathia.

Sabathia looked much better than he did in Houston, and if it wasn't for his rocky sixth inning, then this outing would have been a very quality start.

The Yankee offense came out swinging today as they scored three early runs before Sabathia even threw a pitch.

Brett Gardner hit the Yankees first home run of the 2014 season with his two-run shot down the right field line in the fourth inning.

David Robertson came on to pitch the 9th inning and shut down the Blue Jays to collect his second save of the young season.

The Yankees will travel to New York for the first time this season to play their home opener at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees were unable to stretch their win streak to three games as they were defeated by the Blue Jays 4-0.

Michael Pineda made his first official start of his Yankee career today and he pitched very well. Despite taking the loss, he had a lot of velocity on his fastball and his pitches moved well. He allowed only one earned run in his outing also.

The Yankee offense was silent as they couldn't even score a run in the game. They had their chances, but failed to capitalize. This Yankee offense is promising, but some days they just cannot get it done.

The Yankees were able to get in the win column for the first time this season after they defeated the Astros 4-2.

Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and had a decent outing, although his command was off tonight. In five and two-thirds innings of work, he walked five batters and struck out only one. Just like the previous two Yankee starters, Nova struggled in the first inning when he allowed a run, but escaped further trouble thanks to a double play ball.

The Yankee offense got on the board tonight in the third inning on a Brett Gardner single, then on a Carlos Beltran sacrifice fly.

Derek Jeter collected his first RBI of the year in the fifth inning.

David Robertson came on in the ninth inning and earned his first save of the season.

The Yankees will begin a three-game set with the Blue Jays tomorrow night in Toronto.

The Yankees were unable to pick up their first win of the season as they lost to the Astros 3-1.

Hiroki Kuroda started the game and pitched fairly well, although the pitches he left up in the zone were hit for extra base hits.

The Yankee offense was quiet again. They struggled all night with driving in runs and left many men on base. They had their opportunities, but were unable to cash in.

Yankees designated Eduardo Nunez for assignment

The Yankees have designated infielder Eduardo Nunez for assignment today in order to make room for Yangervis Solarte on the 40-man roster, the team has announced.

Nunez used to be looked at as a replacement for Derek Jeter, but with his inconsistent defense and sub par bat, the Yankees look to go in a different direction.

Solarte beat Nunez out in spring training for the final backup infield spot after posting impressive numbers.

The Yankees have 10 days to place him on waivers, trade him, release him, or send him down to the minors.
