The Yankees were able to defeat the Blue Jays 2-1 on Friday after Phil Hughes provided a solid outing.

Hughes allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 7 innings of work. He struck out 5, but walked 3 batters. Hughes finished his outing with 110 pitches thrown, in which 73 of them were for strikes. With his win tonight, he improved him record to 13-11 on the season.

Nick Swisher and Curtis Granderson provided the Yankees with the offense tonight. Nick Swisher singled home a run in the third and Curtis Granderson hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to increase their lead to 2-0.

Rafael Soriano came on in the ninth inning and notched his 34th save of his season, one night after blowing a two run lead.

The Yankees and Blue Jays will conclude their three game set tomorrow afternoon.
