The Yankees were defeated by the White Sox 9-6 on Monday after they led their early lead slip away from them. The Yankees took an early 3-0 lead before the White Sox battled back.

Freddy Garica started for the Yankees and he struggled throughout the game. Garcia allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 4 1/3 innings of work. He struck out eight, but walked four. He exited after allowing 97 pitches, in which 54 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee bullpen struggled all night tonight. The bullpen combined allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 3 2/3 innings of work.

Derek Jeter led the offense tonight in hits as he picked up four of the teams thirteen hits. Derek Jeter now leads the major league with 167 hits.

Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, Curtis Granderson, Eric Chavez, and Casey McGehee all drove in at least a run tonight.

The Yankees and White Sox will continue their three game set tomorrow night.
