Nova allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings of work. He struck out 8 batters and allowed only 2 walks. With his victory today, he increased his record to 12-7 on the season.
The Yankee bullpen did an outstanding job as they pitched 3 innings of 3 hit ball.
Curtis Granderson got the Yankees on the board in the second inning with his two-run shot to right field. Eduardo Nunez would follow with a solo-shot to left field to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.
Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez also both drove in one run as well.
Rafael Soriano came on in the ninth and notched his 39th save of the season.
The Yankees will conclude their three game set with the Rays tomorrow afternoon.
