The Yankees were unable to defeat the Orioles on Thursday as they were defeated 2-1 in thirteen innings.

Phil Hughes started for the Yankees and he was outstanding. Hughes allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. He struck out 8 and walked 3. Hughes exited with 95 pitches thrown, in which 58 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee bullpen was impressive again tonight as they kept the Orioles off of the scoreboard until the thirteenth inning.

David Phelps allowed a go-ahead double to J.J. Hardy, which sealed the win for the Orioles.

The Yankee offensive woes continued tonight as they were only able to plate one run. As a team, they cwere 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and they left ten runners on base.

Robinson Cano drove in the Yankees only run with an RBI ground out to second base in the sixth inning.

The Yankees and Orioles will play a decisive Game 5 tomorrow. The winner will punch their ticket to the American League Championship Series.
