Hafner lifts Yankees past Jays'

The Yankees were able to defeat the Blue Jays on Saturday for a third consecutive time as they defeated them 6-4. Travis Hafner gave the Yankees a big boost today as he hit a three-run shot as well as a RBI triple. C.C. Sabathia struggled early on again, but managed to pitch eight innings and picked up his fourth win in April as a result.

Sabathia allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits in eight innings of work. He struck out four batters and did not walk any. Sabathia struggled early on as the Blue Jays were up 3-0 at one point. He gave up one run in the third inning and two runs in the fourth. He finished his outing with 112 pitches thrown, in which 80 of them were for strikes.

Travis Hafner was the spark for the Yankees today as he drove in four runs with a home run and a triple. Down 3-0 in the fourth, Hafner hammered a pitch to right-center field to tie the game at three. Later in the game Travis Hafner would come up big again as he drilled a triple to center field, which scored Vernon Wells, to give the Yankees a 6-4 lead.

Joba Chamberlain pitched the ninth inning and shut the door to pick up the win for the Yankees.

The Yankees and Blue Jays will conclude their four game set tomorrow afternoon.
