The Yankees were able to complete their first four game sweep of the Blue Jays since 1995 today as they defeated them 3-2. Phil Hughes was very impressive today as he picked up nine strikeouts in the win. Lyle Overbay hit a two-run shot in the seventh inning off of knuckle baller, R.A. Dickey, to give them the lead, which they would not surrender.

Hughes allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings of work. He struck out nine batters and walked two. He finished his outing with 111 pitches, in which 76 of them were for strikes. Hughes caught a bad break in the fourth inning as he allowed one run on three soft hit balls with two outs. But besides that inning, Hughes pitched an outstanding game and this outing can only be taken as a positive sign.

Brennan Boesch put the Yankees on the board in the second inning with a solo shot to right field. The next time the Yankees scored was Lyle Overbay's go ahead two-run shot to right center field in the seventh inning.

Mariano Rivera came on to pitch the ninth inning and he picked up his ninth save in nine opportunities.

The Yankees will take their four game winning streak with them tomorrow as they welcome the Houston Astro's into the Bronx.
