The Yankees were unable to clinch the series win on Saturday as they were defeated 11-1 by the Red Sox. Phil Hughes started for the Yankees and he struggled as he suffered the loss. The Yankee offense also failed to get going tonight as they scored just one run on six hits.

Hughes allowed five runs on seven hits in four and a third innings of work. He struck out seven and walked two. Hughes fell apart in the third inning when he allowed five runs. The big knock in the inning was a grand-slam by Mike Napoli.

The Yankee offense was silent tonight. Chris Stewart accounted for the Yankees only run as he drove in Jayson Nix in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly.

The Yankees and Red Sox will conclude their three-game series tomorrow night.
