The Yankees offensive struggles continued tonight as they were defeated 5-2 by the Athletics. The Yankees were only able to collect four hits in tonight's game. Phil Hughes picked up the loss, his fifth of the season.

Hughes allowed three runs on four hits in four and a third innings. He struck out three and walked five batters. He finished his outing with 95 pitches, in which 23 of them were for strikes.

Mark Teixeira drove in the Yankees first run in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly to right field, which scored Brett Gardner. The Yankees would collect one more run on a Jayson Nix single in the seven inning.

The Yankees hope to avoid a sweep by the Athletics with a win tomorrow.
