Phil Hughes started for the Yankees' and he struggled early on. He allowed 4 unearned runs in the 1st inning thanks to an error my Eduardo Nunez, but the Yankees' countered with 3 of their own in the bottom half. Hughes pitched 5.1 innings and allowed 6 R, 2 earned, on 5 hits. He struck out 4 and walked 2. His fastball velocity was reaching mid 90's. He struggled with command early on, but it seemed as he adjusted as the game went on.

Their bullpen was fantastic once again. Rafael Soriano was able to battle out of a jam, as well as David Robertson.

Mariano Rivera came on in the 9th to notch his 3rd save of the year.

Tomorrow the Yankees' will battle their rivals the Boston Red Sox for a weekend series. The game starts at 3:05. There will be pre-game ceremonies to celebrate Fenway Park's 100th Anniversary. They will wear 1912 throw back jerseys. You can view the jersey here.
