Derek Jeter Hits His 500th Career Double


Derek Jeter hit his 500th double of his career in the 3rd inning of Thursday Night's game against the Kansas City Royals.

Jeter is now tied with Goose Goslin and John Olerud for 53rd place on the all time doubles list.

That was Jeter's 8th double on the year.

Mariano Rivera Diagnosed with Twisted Right Knee

Mariano Rivera twisted his right knee while shagging fly balls during batting practice. Rivera was going back on a ball that was hit by Jayson Nix and it appeared the Rivera missed a step. He fell to the ground while withering in pain. He was smiling while being carted off the field.

Rivera has been examined by the Yankees Medical Staff as well as the Royals associated team physician Dr. Joe Noland.

Mariano was sent to Kansas University's MedWest Hospital where he will undergo an MRI.

Details from that MRI will be posted later.

Eric Chavez to DL; Nix Called Up

Eric Chavez has been placed on the 7 day disabled list with a concussion and a whiplash injury. Chavez suffered this injury while diving for a ball in the 5th inning of Wednesday Night's game.

Chavez was up at the plate and had to step out twice before Joe Giardi came out and took him out.

Jayson Nix has been called up to fill his position. Nix can play some infield positions as well as some outfield.

He has been immediatly inserted into the lineup on Thursday when they play the Royals in Kansas City.

Yanks' Lose Finale to Orioles

The Yankees lost the finale of the 3 game set at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday to the Orioles by a score of 5-0. Ivan Nova's 15 consecutive winning streak has been snapped.

The Yankees bats were no where to be found as they collected only 5 hits and 0 runs.

Ivan Nova's record is now 3-1. He gave up 9 hits and 5 runs in 6 1/3 innings pitched on Wednesday. He walked 4 and struck out 3.

David Phelps makes his 1st major league start tomorrow against the Kansas City Royals.
