Yanks' Offense Struggles; Lose Third Straight

The Yankees have lost to the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 4-1 and increased their losing streak to 3.

Phil Hughes started for the Yankees and he was sharp. He had good velocity on his fastball and his curve ball was good as well. Hughes allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 5 1/3 innings pitched. He struck out 5 and walked 2. He lost his 5th game of the season.

The Yankees offense continued to struggle tonight as they were able to score only 1 run. The Yankees had runners in scoring position throughout the night, but were unable to drive them in. They were only able to muster 5 hits tonight.

The Yankees and Reds will start interleague play tomorrow at the Stadium.

Game 38: Yankees at Blue Jays

The Yankees lost Game 1 of 2 to the Blue Jays last night and will play the finale tonight.

Yanks', Kuroda Drop Opener to Jays

The Yankees were defeated in the opener of this 2 game set with the Toronto Blue Jays 8-1.

Hiroki Kuroda was hit hard by the Blue Jays bats as he suffered his 5th loss of the season. Kuroda allowed 7 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings pitched. He struck out 6 and walked 2. Kuroda suffered from the long ball as he allowed 3 home runs tonight.

The Yankees were only able to score 1 run tonight and that was by a Mark Teixeira single in the 6th inning.

Derek Jeter was out of tonight's lineup as Joe Girardi had decided to give the captain the day off.

The Yankees and Blue Jays will conclude this short series tomorrow.
