Mark Teixeira Powers Yankees Past A's

Mark Teixeira helped the Yankees pick up their fourth straight win on Saturday when the Yankees defeated the Athletics 9-2. Mark Teixeira hit 2 home runs and collected 5 RBI's in the win. Teixeira hit a solo shot in the 4th inning, a 2 run single in the 5th inning, and a 2 run shot in the 9th inning.

C.C. Sabathia got the call today in his home state and looked for his 6th win of the season. He lost 2 consecutive losses coming into today. Sabathia allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings of work. He struck out 4 and walked 2.

Robinson Cano homered in his 2nd consecutive game. He hit a solo shot in the 3rd inning, which was his 7th of the season.

Derek Jeter continued his climb to the top of the hit list today when he tied George Brett on the all-time hit list for 14th place with 3,154 hits. Jeter drove in 2 runs today with a single in the 3rd and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the 8th.

The Yankees were able to collect 14 hits and were 2 for 6 with runners in scoring position. They left 7 runners on base. The Yankees have had 26 hits in the first two games of this series.

The Yankees and Athletics will wrap up this series tomorrow and the Yankees will try to go for the sweep.

Derek Jeter Ties George Brett on All-Time Hit List

Derek Jeter collected 2 hits Saturday to tie him with George Brett for 14th on the all-time hit list.

With one hit already, Jeter bunted back to the Athletics starter, Bartolo Colon, for a base hit. Derek previously hit an RBI single to center field in the third inning to break a tie with Paul Waner for 15th place.

Cal Ripken Jr. is next on the list for Jeter with 3,184 career hits.

Yanks' Bats Come Alive; Take Opener

After many games of offensive struggles, it seems like the Yankees are getting into a groove offensively. The Yankees were able to collect 12 hits i the 6-3 win over Oakland Friday night.

Ivan Nova was able to pick up his 5th win of the season as he completed 7 innings of 3 run ball. He allowed 6 hits and struck out 4. He also walked 1. Nova finished with 101 pitches and 63 of them were for strikes.

The Yankees used the home run ball to their advantage as Mark Teixeira, Robinson Cano, and Nick Swisher all went yard in the win.

Rafael Soriano came on to pick up the save in the 9th. It is his 4th save of the season.

The Yankees will continue their west coast trip tomorrow when they play Game 2 of 3 against the Athletics.
