Yankees: June 2012 Recap

The Yankees have concluded the month of June, which was their best month so far during the season.

The Yankees have posted a 20-7 record, their most wins in any month since August of 2009. They started the month of June 1.5 games back of Tampa Bay for first place in the AL East and .5 back of the Orioles for second black.. They now lead the Rays by 6 games and the Orioles by 4.5 games.

Many position players have picked up the pace during the month of June. Here they are:

Hiroki Kuroda's Gem Shuts Down White Sox

Hiroki Kuroda pitches against the Chicago White Sox in the first inning on Saturday. 
Hiroki Kuroda was able to help the Yankees defeat the White Sox 4-0 with his 11 strikeout gem on Saturday.

Kuroda allowed 0 runs on 3 hits in 7 innings of work. He struck out 11 and walked 1. Kuroda threw 107 pitches, in which 68 of them were for strikes. He was able to improve his record to 8-7 on the year.

Curtis Granderson got the Yankees on the board early with a solo home run to right field in the first inning, his 23rd on the season.

DeWayne Wise had a good ballgame today. He went 3-3 with a RBI double and a solo home run. Wise was a triple away from the cycle. Wise rocketed his second home run on the season into the second deck in right field.

Robinson Cano blasted his 19th home run in the sixth inning. He reached the second deck in right field as well.

David Robertson pitched a perfect eighth inning and Boone Logan pitched part of the ninth. Rafael Soriano relieved Boone Logan and closed the game in a non-save situation.

The Yankees and White Sox will play the finale tomorrow afternoon. The Yankees will celebrate Old Timers ' day before the game.

Adam Warren Sent Down; Mitchell Called Up

Adam Warren's trip to the Bronx was a short lived one. Warren made his major league debut on Thursday and he struggled. It was announced before the game that Adam Warren will be sent back down to the minors.

Warren allowed 6 runs on 8 hits in 2 1/3 innings.

David Phelps will likely take Warren's place in the rotation.

D.J. Mitchell has been seen in the clubhouse and he will be available in the bullpen.
