Reggie Jackson Releases Statement Regarding Comments

Reggie Jackson, the Yankees special adviser, has released a statement regarding his comments about Hall of Famers and steroids.

"In trying to convey my feelings about a few issues that I am passionate about, I made the mistake of naming some specific players." "

This was inappropriate and unfair to those players, some of which are very close friends of mine. I think there are ways to speak from the heart without hurting people, and I’m disappointed that I didn’t take greater care in expressing my views.

“I have been proactively reaching out to make personal apologies to those within the Hall of Fame community that I offended, and to the Yankees organization for any disruption that I caused in the clubhouse. I continue to have a strong relationship with the club, and look forward to continuing in my role with the team. As always, I remain dedicated to the great game of baseball."

There has been no word yet if Reggie will return to the team tomorrow.

Derek Jeter Passes Mickey Mantle

Derek Jeter led off his 13th All-Star Game with an infield single that bounced passed Pablo Sandoval at third. With that base hit, Derek Jeter passed Mickey Mantle for the most All-Star Game hits with 11 in a Yankee uniform.

Jeter chopped a ball to third that bounced off of Pablo Sandoval's glove, which was recovered by Rafael Furcal, but Jeter beat the throw out.

Derek Jeter was 1-2 on the night and he was lifted for a pinch hitter.

Robinson Cano: "Fans Treated My Family Poorly"

Robinson Cano has been the center of attention these past couple of days for not picking Billy Butler to participate in the Home Run Derby. Cano ended up hearing a barrage of boo's and went homer-less during the Derby.

Robinson Cano didn't care much about the loud boo's but he did care about his family being treated poorly by the fans. Let me note this, their has been no indication if it was all Royals fans or not.

Cano made it public that fans were yelling at his family when they were going to the bathroom. He said that bringing his family into this crossed the line.

Jose Cano, Robinson's father, has said that fans were yelling at Cano's mother while she was going to the restroom.

The Captain Derek Jeter later weighed in on the situation. "It happens, man," Jeter said. "My parents sometimes don't go to games because of what fans do."

Nevertheless, Cano said he had fun at the All-Star Game, but wasn't happy about his family being treated poorly.

Joba Chamberlain Begins Rehab Assignment

Joba Chamberlain began his rehab assignment on Tuesday and he struck out two batters in his one inning of work. This was his first minor league appearance since undergoing elbow surgery. Chamberlain allowed no hits and he threw 23 pitches in the Gulf Coast League Yankees. His fastball clocked around 98 MPH.

Joba Chamberlain underwent season ending Tommy John Surgery last season and he was on target to return in June, but that was unlikely as he sustained a dislocated ankle after a trampoline accident.

Assuming that their on no setbacks, Chamberlain could be back in the majors sometime in August. The Yankees will put him on a 30-day rehab assignment.

The Yankees bullpen currently ranks 6th among the American League with a 3.20 ERA.
