The Yankees were able to defeat the Blue Jays 6-1 with the help of C.C. Sabathia. He made his first start since being placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left groin strain.

Sabathia allowed 0 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings of work. He started the 7th, but was pulled after allowing a leadoff hit. He threw 87 pitches, in which 66 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee offense was powered by Andruw Jones. Jones crushed a three run shot to left field in the second inning. They would go on to score three more runs in the seventh inning to give them a commanding 6-0 lead.

Rafael Soriano would come on in the ninth, due to the inability of Chad Qualls to shut the door. He would earn his 24th save on the season.

The Yankees and Blue Jays will conclude this series tomorrow afternoon.

Joba Chamberlain Impressive in Rehab Appearance

Joba Chamberlain has pitched yet another impressive rehab appearance for the Gulf Coast League on Tuesday. Chamberlain has been rehabbing from a right ankle injury and from Tommy John Surgery.

Chamberlain retired all three batters that he faced and he struck out two of them. He has been clocked on the radar gun in the high 90's.

"We're encouraged," Joe Girardi said. " and it seems like we're getting through this and it shouldn't be a real long time if everything goes according to plan."

Joba could be back in the Bronx sometime in early August.

Darnell McDonald Designated for Assignment

The Yankees have announced that they have designated Darnell McDonald for assignment. This was the move in order to reinstate C.C. Sabathia from the disabled list.

McDonald played just four games for the  Yankees this season. He had four at-bats and did not record a hit.

And for the record, i really never liked him anyway.
