The Yankees lost Tuesday night's game to the Mariners 4-2, but more importantly lost their star third basemen, Alex Rodriguez. Rodriguez exited in the eighth inning after getting hit on the left hand by a 89 MPH changeup, which was thrown by Felix Hernandez. It was his third batter hit in the game. Rodriguez suffered a fractured left hand and no timetable has been given.

Freddy Garcia started for the Yankees and he struggled early on, but was sharp in the late inning. Garcia allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 7 1/3 innings pitched. He struck out 8 and didn't allow a walk. Garcia left the game after retiring the last 15 batters in a row.

The Yankees got on the board in the first inning by a Curtis Granderson solo shot to right field. The Mariners would answer in the first inning with a home run of their own. The Yankees would go on to score once more in the game on a Mark Teixeira sacrifice fly to center field in the eighth inning.

The Yankees and Mariners will conclude their three game set tomorrow afternoon.

Joba Chamberlain Throws Scoreless Inning for Class-A Tampa

Joba Chamberlain continued his road back to the majors on Tuesday as he pitched a scoreless inning for the Class-A Tampa Yankees. He retired all three batters that he faced.

Chamberlain induced a flyout, a popout, and a groundout in his outing. He was clocked in the high 90's on the radar gun.

Joba Chamberlain could be back in the Bronx on or before August 6th, the day when his 30-day rehab assignment comes to a conclusion.

Alex Rodriguez Exits in the Eighth

Alex Rodriguez exited Tuesday's game against the Mariners after getting plunked on the left hand by Felix Hernandez. Rodriguez fell to the ground and withered in pain.

Rodriguez couldn't get out of the way on a changeup up and in. Felix Hernandez plunked Derek Jeter just two batters prior to Alex and also hit Ichiro on the foot in the seventh inning.

We will find out more after the game about Alex Rodriguez's hand.
