Joba Chamberlain Throws for Double-A Trenton

Joba Chamberlain continued his road back to the Bronx on Sunday as he pitched a solid 1 1/3 innings for Double-A Trenton.

Chamberlain threw 30 pitches, in which 23 of them were for strikes. Joba struck out the side in the eighth inning after allowing a leadoff single.

Joba Chamberlain has been clocked in the mid-to-high 90's with his fastball. The first pitch that he fired tonight was a 94 MPH for a strike.

The Yankees hope to get Chamberlain back at the beginning of August.

Andy Pettitte Encounters Minor Setback

Yankees left-hander Andy Pettitte has suffered a minor setback in his recovery from his fractured left ankle. Pettitte suffered the injury after being hit with a line drive that hit his left ankle on June 27th.

Pettitte said that he did "a little too much in Seattle" and that his ankle hasn't healed up as much as the doctors had hoped.

"He pushed himself too far, so we will back off," Brian Cashman said.

Brian Cashman also stated that they still expect Pettitte back in September.

The Yankees will look to Pettitte to provide a solid number three or four starter once the postseason comes along.

The Yankees were unable to come up with a victory in the series finale as they lost to the Red Sox 3-2. The Yankees battled back and forced extras, but a bloop hit by Pedro Ciriaco spoiled the Yankees chances of winning.

Hiroki Kuroda started for the Yankees and he was sharp. Kuroda allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 8 innings of work. He struck out 4 and walked only 1. Kuroda finished up with 102 pitches thrown, in which 64 of them were for strikes.

Russell Martin kicked-started the Yankee offense tonight with his solo shot to right field in the seventh inning. Martin would later drive home the Andruw Jones in the eighth inning, which at the time tied the game.

David Robertson surrendered a bloop single to Pedro Ciriaco in the tenth inning which scored the game-winning run from third.

The Yankees will begin a three game set with the Orioles tomorrow night.
