Yanks' Seal Series Against Mariners

The Yankees were able to defeat the Mariners 6-2 on Sunday and take the three game set. With the win today, Freddy Garcia notched his 150th career victory.

Garcia allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 5 innings of work. He struck out 2 but walked 4. He exited with 85 pitches thrown, in which 47 of them were for strikes.

Raul Ibanez powered the Yankees with his three runs batted in. Ibanez belted a solo shot in the fifth inning and a two run single in the sixth inning.

Ichiro Suzuki was able to extend his hitting streak to twelve games with his double in the seventh inning. Ichiro popped up to center fielder Michael Saunders, but he lost it in the sun and Ichiro was credited with a sun-assisted double.

The Yankees will travel to Detroit to battle the Tigers and begin their 7-game road trip

Yankees Shut Down by King Felix

The Yankees were unable to get to Felix Hernandez on Saturday as they were shutout in their 1-0 loss against the Mariners.

Hiroki Kuroda started for the Yankees and he had a solid outing. Kuroda allowed 1 run on 7 hits in 6 1/3 innings of work. He struck out 4 and walked 1.

The Yankees pitching gave themselves a chance to win, but the offense was able to get Felix Hernandez.

Robinson Cano's double in the first and Ichiro Suzuki's single in the third accounted for the Yankees only two hits. With his single in the third, Ichiro extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

The Yankees will try to shake this tough loss of play the series finale tomorrow.
