The Yankees were unable to take the opener against the Orioles tonight as they were defeated 6-1. The Yankees lead in the AL East is down to just 2 games over the Orioles.

Hiroki Kuroda started for the Yankees and he put them in a position to win. Kuroda allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 8 1/3 innings of work. He struck out 4 and did not walk a batter.

Curtis Granderson's solo home run in the ninth inning accounted for the only run scored by the Yankees tonight.

The Yankees and Orioles will continue their three game set tomorrow night.

The Yankees were unable to defeat the Blue Jays on Wednesday as they were defeated 8-5 in the finale of their three game set.

C.C. Sabathia started for the Yankees and he was solid. Sabathia allowed 5 runs, in which 2 were earned, on 5 hits in 7 innings of work. He struck out 8 batters and did not allow a walk. The Yankee defense really let Sabathia down. He exited the game with 99 pitches thrown, in which 69 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee offense was led by Curtis Granderson who drove in three runs. Andruw Jones and Russell Martin also contributed by driving in one run each.

The Yankees lost a tough one today and they haven't been playing good baseball lately. They will begin a three game set with the Orioles on Friday.
