The Yankees were unable to come up with a win in the series finale against the Orioles on Sunday as they were defeated 8-3. The Bombers jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hold it.

Phil Hughes started for the Yankees and he took the loss. Hughes allowed 5 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings of work. He struck out 6 and walked only 1 batter. Hughes came out to start the sixth, but allowed the first four batters to reach base safely.

The Orioles took advantage of Yankee pitching today as they were able to put up a four spot in the sixth and a three spot in the eighth.

Chris Dickerson hit a two-run shot to right field in his first game with the Yankees this year. Dickerson, who is filling in for the injured Granderson, also flashed some leather out in center field when he made an outstanding catch.

The Yankees will travel to Tampa to battle the Rays in a three game set which begins tomorrow.
