What could have been the Yankees best win of the season turned out to be one of their toughest losses of their season. Down by five going into the eighth inning, the Yankees managed to mount a comeback and tie the game at 6 before the bullpen faltered in the bottom half. The Yankees were unable to rally in the ninth and they suffered a tough 10-6 loss to the Orioles.

David Phelps started for the Yankees and he struggled in the first inning. Phelps allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 4 innings of work. He struck out 3 and walked 2. Phelps exited with 73 pitches thrown, in which 44 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee offense started to get going in the eighth inning when they scored five runs with two outs. Ichiro Suzuki highlighted the inning with a game-tying two run single to right field.

The Yankee bullpen would struggle in the eighth inning as David Robertson allowed 3 run on 3 hits. Robertson allowed 2 home runs, which gave the Orioles the lead.

Boone Logan came in to throw only one pitch, which was hammered out of the park by Chris Davis.

The Yankees and Orioles will play game two of their four game set tomorrow night.
