The Yankees were able to come out with a 10-9 win in their 14 inning affair with the Athletics on Saturday. The game lasted about five hours and forty-five minutes.

Ivan Nova started for the Yankees, but he didn't last very long. Nova allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 2 1/3 innings of work. He struck out 2 batters, but walked 2. Nova exited with 58 pitches thrown, in which 33 of them were for strikes.

The Yankees had to use 8 relief pitchers due to Nova's early exit. Cory Wade ended up picking up the win after pitching a scoreless 14th inning.

Raul Ibanez had a big day today, even though he wasn't in the starting lineup. Ibanez came on to pinch hit in the fifth inning and launched a solo shot to give the Yankees a 5-4 lead. He would then hit a big two-run shot to tie the game at 9 in the thirteenth inning.

Down four going into the home half of the thirteenth, the Yankees were able to start a rally which led to four runs to tie the game. The Yankees began the inning with three consecutive hits, which loaded the bases. After a wild pitch which cut the Athletics lead to 9-6, Eduardo Nunez would lift a sacrifice fly to left field to make the score 9-7. Raul Ibanez was next and he would tie the game with a long home run to left field.

After a scoreless 14th inning pitched by Cory Wade, the Yankees would win the game when Eduardo Nunez grounded to first basemen, Brandon Moss, who booted the ball to end the game.

The Yankees and Athletics will conclude their three game set tomorrow.
