The Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians for a second straight night tonight by a final score of 4-3. David Phelps was absolutely outstanding tonight as he picked up the well-deserved win. Mark Teixeira helped him out tonight with his three-run home run.

David Phelps allowed no runs on one hit in six innings of work. He struck out seven batters, but issued four walks throughout the game. Fortunately for Phelps, none of those walks came back to hurt him. Phelps finished his outing with 102 pitches, in which 64 of them were for strikes.

Joba Chamberlain relieved Phelps in the seventh and gave up a three-run home run to Drew Stubbs to make it a 4-3 game. After that home run, the Yankee bullpen would be effective and shut down the Indians offense to capture the win.

The Yankees got on the board first in the third inning thanks to a Ichiro Suzuki RBI single that plated Lyle Overbay. Two batters later, Mark Teixeira increased the Yankees lead to four with a three-run shot to left field.

Mariano Rivera came on in the ninth inning and notched his 21st save of the season.

The Yankees and Indians will conclude their three-game series tomorrow afternoon.

Report: Alex Rodriguez to be suspended 100 games

Outside The Lines (OTL) has reported that Major League Baseball is seeking to suspend Alex Rodriguez for a 100 games due to his connection with the Biogenesis clinic in Miami. Rodriguez has already been suspended 50 games by MLB in 2009. Anthony Bosch, the founder of Biogenesis of America, has agreed to cooperate with Major League Baseball and their on-going investigation.

Rodriguez, who is currently rehabbing his hip in Tampa, has already denied publicly any involvement with the Biogenesis clinic.

Although he has denied involvement, his name has been reportedly seen in hand-written notes and records that have been obtained by MLB.

If Alex Rodriguez ends up getting suspended, then it will likely be for 100 games as this is his second steroid related offense.

The Yankees were able to take the first game of their three-game series against the Indians on Monday as they defeated the Indians 7-4. Mark Teixeira belted his first home run of the year, which was a grand slam, to help the struggling Yankee offense. Andy Pettitte made his first start since coming off of the disabled list tonight.

Pettitte allowed four runs on seven hits in four and two thirds innings of work. He struck out three, but also walked three. Pettitte was crusing along until the fifth inning when he ran into some trouble. It seemed as if his location and velocity abandoned him. Pettitte allowed three hits and two walks in the inning and also gave up the Yankees 4-1 lead.

Mark Teixeira kick started the offense tonight with his grand slam in the third inning.

With the score tied a four in the sixth inning, Brett Gardner gave the Yankees the lead with a two out, two run single to center field.

The Yankees would go on to score once more in the seventh inning on a Travis Hafner solo shot.

Mariano Rivera came on in the ninth inning and shut the door to earn his twentieth save of the season.

The Yankees and Indians will continue their three-game series tomorrow night.
