Alex Rodriguez updates from first rehab game


Alex Rodriguez will be making his first rehab appearance tonight for the Charleston RiverDogs and we have you covered with live updates.


Rodriguez is batting second and playing third base tonight.

7:06 pm ET - Rodriguez was immediatly tested at third base as he had to field a first pitch bunt. The bunt was perfectly placed and he had no chance. The throw was on target, though. 

7:13 pm ET - Alex Rodiguez grounds into a double play in his first rehab at-bat.

7:41 pm ET - Alex Rodriguez is due up fourth in the bottom of the third inning.  

7:45 pm ET - Rodriguez  struck out looking in his second rehab at-bat. 

7:49 pm ET - Alex Rodriguez has been taken out of the game, thus concluding his first rehab appearance.

The Yankees were able to snap their five-game losing streak on Monday as they defeated the Minnesota Twins 10-4. With their offense slumping coming into the game, the Yankees completed the game with a positive sign with their offensive explosion. During the game, Andy Pettitte reached a huge milestone. In the  bottom of the fifth inning, Andy Pettitte became the Yankees' all-time strikeout leader with his strikeout of Justin Morneau. He passed Whitey Ford with his 1,958 strikeout in a Yankee uniform.

Andy Pettitte started for the Yankees and he allowed four runs on six hits in five innings of work. He struck out two and walked four. He finished his outing with 102 pitches,in which 60 of them were for strikes.

Robinson Cano led the Yankee' offense tonight with his three hits in four at-bats. Cano homered in his first two at-bats, then doubled in his fourth at-bat. He concluded the game with three runs batted in.

Brett Gardner, Robinson Cano, Vernon Wells, and Zoilo Almonte all finished with multi-hit games.

The Yankees scored three runs in the eighth inning and then four runs in the ninth.

The Yankees and Twins will continue their four-game set tomorrow night.


Andy Pettitte becomes Yankees' All-Time strikeout leader


At 41 years of age, Andy Pettitte has officially passed Whitey Ford for the most strikeouts all-time in a Yankee uniform.

With Ford sitting at 1,957 strikeouts in a Yankee uniform, Andy Pettitte surpassed that number on July 1st with his two strikeouts against the Twins.

Pettitte is in his 18th major league season and his 15th with the Yankees.
