The Yankees were unable to stretch their win streak to three games as they were defeated by the Blue Jays 4-0.

Michael Pineda made his first official start of his Yankee career today and he pitched very well. Despite taking the loss, he had a lot of velocity on his fastball and his pitches moved well. He allowed only one earned run in his outing also.

The Yankee offense was silent as they couldn't even score a run in the game. They had their chances, but failed to capitalize. This Yankee offense is promising, but some days they just cannot get it done.

The Yankees and Blue Jays will complete their three-game set tomorrow.

Mark Teixeira placed on DL, Romine recalled

The Yankees have placed first basemen Mark Teixeira on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday due to a right hamstring strain. Teixeira suffered the injury Friday night after lunging for a foul ball.

Austin Romine has been recalled from Triple-A to give the Yankees a little more depth. With Teixeira out, Kelly Johnson will be the first basemen and backup catcher Francisco Cervelli may see time over there as well.

The Yankees hope that Mark is only out the minimum 15 days.
