The Yankees took the first game of the split admission double header against the Cubs on Wednesday after defeating them 3-0.
Masahiro Tanaka pitched an absolute gem today by striking out ten batters in eight innings of work. Tanaka allowed only two hits, in which they were two bunt singles. Although it was frigid in the Bronx, Tanaka had all of his pitches working today, including his prized splitter.
Carlos Beltran got the Yankees rolling on offense with a solo shot in the first inning.
The Yankees and Cubs will play the second game of the double header tonight.
