The Yankees weren't able to do much on Friday night as they were defeated by the Athletics 2-0. C.C. Sabathia gave the Yankees six quality innings, but the bats were unable to pick him up. Collectively, they were only able to muster six hits. They were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position as a team and they left six men on base.
Sabathia allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings of work. He struck out six and walked two. He finished his outing with 118 pitches, in which 74 of them were for strikes.
Brett Gardner and Jayson Nix both had two hits in the loss.
The Yankees will look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon as they will play the middle game of the three game set against the Athletics.
