The Yankees were able to get back into the win column on Wednesday night as they defeated the Dodgers 3-0 in a game that was completed dominated by the two starters.

Hiroki Kuroda matched up against Clayton Kershaw and Kuroda arguably out pitched Kershaw. Kuroda allowed no runs no five hits in seven innings of work. He struck out eight while walking on one batter. He concluded his outing with 103 pitches thrown, in which 69 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee offense did their damage in the top of the ninth inning when they scored three runs to take a 3-0 lead. Lyle Overbay drove in the games first run with two-outs in the top of the ninth inning. Overbay lined a 1-2 slider back up the middle to score Cano.

The Yankees would go on to score two more runs as Jayson Nix popped a ball up to short right field that was dropped by Mark Ellis.

Mariano Rivera came on in the ninth inning and shut the door to pick up save number 34 of the season.

The Yankees will enjoy an off-day tomorrow and will begin a three-game set with the Padres on Friday.
