Numerous reports have surfaced that free agent, Robinson Cano, has landed in Seattle to meet with the front office of the Mariners. This comes just days after the Mariners expressed their interest in Cano. The Mariners are reportedly in "serious" talks with the free agent and are open to inking him to a major contract.
The Yankees have made it clear that they will not go above or near the $200 million mark, but Cano is asking for a ten year, $250 million contract. The Mariners seem to be serious contenders as they are offering Cano a nine-year, $225 million contract.
If Cano does depart to Seattle or another team, then the Yankees have some holes to fill. They could go with newly signed Kelly Johnson at second base, or they can go out and get a player like Omar Infante.
Ultimately it will be a interesting next couple of days.
