Yanks' defeat Red Sox 4-1 in series opener


The Yankees were able to take the first of four tonight as they defeated the Yankees 4-1.

Michael Pineda picked up his first Yankee win tonight as he dominated the powerful Red Sox lineup. Pineda went six innings and allowed only one run with seven strikeouts. Pineda had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning, but allowed a bloop single to left field.

Dean Anna homered in the game tonight, which marked his first career home run.

The Yankees and Red Sox will continue their four-game set tomorrow.
