Yanks' Stun Braves with Late Comeback

The Yankees increased their win streak to 5 games with their 6-4 comeback win over the Braves. They also have moved into sole possession of first place in the American League East.

C.C. Sabathia started for the Yankees and allowed 4 runs, on 10 hits, in 7 innings of work. He struck out 6 and walked 2. Sabathia increased his record to 8-2 on the year.

Sabathia didn't have his best outing. He struggled with command early on a gave up a 3 run double in the first inning. Sabathia would recover and keep the Yankees in the game. He was 0-2 with a strikeout at the plate.

The Yankees offense was silent against Mike Minor, the Braves starter. Minor limited them to just 5 hits before he was relieved after 7 1/3 innings.

Jonny Venters relieved Minor and the Yankees jumped on him. Venters allowed 4 runs on 3 hits and walked 1.

Alex Rodriguez hit a game tying gram slam off of Venters in the 8th inning after he walked Mark Teixeira to load the bases. That grand slam was Alex's 23rd of his career, which puts him in a first place tie with Lou Gehrig on the all-time grand slam list.

Nick Swisher would come up after Robinson Cano singled to ceter field. Swisher would send his 10th home run over the right field wall to give the Yankees the 6-4 lead in the 8th inning.

The bullpen would come on and work 2 scoreless innings to secure the Yankee win.

Rafael Soriano came on in the 9th and secured his 10th save of the season. He did not pitch in Monday's game due to a blister on his finger. Soriano blew his last save opportunity against the Mets on Sunday. The Yankees would go on to win that game by a Russell Martin walk-off home run.

Alex Rodriguez Ties Lou Gehrig on All-Time Grand Slams List

Alex Rodriguez has tied Lou Gehrig on the all-time grand slam list with 23 career grand slams Tuesday night.

Rodriguez hit a game tying grand slam to left field in the 8th inning on a 3-2 sinker off of Jonny Venters. This grand slam tied Lou Gehrig and tied the game 4-4 in the late innings.

This milestone came on Lou Gehrig's final game played as a Yankee.

Injury Updates: Pettitte, Kuroda, and Rivera

Andy Pettitte, who fielded a come backer barehanded, played catch on Monday and should be ready for his next start against the Washington Nationals on Saturday.

Hiroki Kuroda ran some sprints in the outfield Tuesday after a his left foot was nailed by a line drive off the bat of Daniel Murphy. Kuroda will also be ready for his start tomorrow against the Braves.

Mariano Rivera had successful surgery on Tuesday to repair his torn ACL in his right knee. Mariano tweeted about it and thanked everyone for all of the support.



Mariano Rivera is expected to return in 2013.

Brett Gardner Silent on Visit with Doctor

Brett Gardner has arrived in Atlanta and spoke with reporters before tonight's game about his visit to Dr. Andrews on Monday.

"I'm going to wait until after i see the doctor on Thursday before i say anything," said Gardner. Gardner will get a second opinion by the Reds team physician, Dr. Timothy Kremchek.

Gardner has been on the disabled list since April 19th with a strained left elbow. Brett has had two setbacks are playing rehab games.

When Gardner was asked if he would play this year, he responded with "I believe i will and hopefully relatively soon."

David Robertson to Return Soon

David Robertson has been rehabbing his left oblique strain and is hoping to rejoin the team during the weekend series against the Washington Nationals.

Robertson pitches Sunday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday. He threw an inning in relief and retired the side in order. He had one strike out.

Robertson made his second rehab appearance Tuesday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre and threw one scoreless inning. He one struck out today as well.

When David Robertson returns, he will be put back into his 8th inning role as the setup man. Rafael Soriano will stay in the closer spot.
