The Yankees had many opportunities to win this game, but they couldn't cash in on them. The Yankees had two players go 0-for-8 and one player go 0-for-7. They were 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position. Hiroki Kuroda gave them an outstanding start today, but the offense just would not score any runs. They eventually lost the game 3-2 in 18 innings to the Athletics, which capped off the sweep.

Hiroki Kuroda started for the Yankees and he was oustanding. Kuroda allowed two runs on two hits in eight innings of work. He struck out three and walked two. He finished his outing wit 103 pitches thrown, in which 63 of them were for strikes.

The Yankees scored first in the first inning as Robinson Cano belted a two-run shot to center field. They would not score again in the game.

The Yankee bullpen was excellent today, but due to the lack of offense, they were bound to give up a run. Mariano Rivera gave up a walk-off single to Nate Freiman in the 18th inning to send the Athletics home happy.

This is just a game that the Yankees hope to put behind them.

The Yankees will visit the Angels on Friday to begin a three-game series.
