The Yankees were given a great start by Hiroki Kuroda on Sunday night as they defeated the Orioles 3-0. With his shutout tonight, Hiroki Kuroda has notched his fifth career shutout. In 2012, Kuroda collected two shut outs in his first year with the Yankees.

Kuroda allowed no runs on five hits in nine innings of work. He struck out five batters and did not issue a walk. He finished his outing with 113 pitches thrown, in which 79 of them were strikes.

Hiroki Kuroda located most of his pitches down in the zone tonight. He rarely gave the Orioles anything good to hit as he kept the ball down in the zone. His groundouts to flyouts ratio showed it as he produced a 18-3.

Brett Gardner powered the Yankee offense, literally, as he belted a long two-run shot that hit high off the right field foul pole. Prior to his at-bat, Jayson Nix drove in Brennan Boesch with his sacrifice fly to right field.

The Yankees will enjoy an off-day tomorrow and they will prepare to begin a three game set with the Diamondbacks, which will begin on Tuesday.
