One day after losing to the Mariners, the Yankees bounced back and defeated them 3-1. The Yankee offense picked up the slack a little bit today as they collected ten hits in the game. With his win today, Andy Pettitte notched his 250th of his career.

Pettitte allowed one run on three hits in seven and a third innings of work. He struck out six and did not allow a walk. He finished his outing with a low pitch count as he threw 85 pitches, in which 59 of them were for strikes.

The Yankees got on the board early once against as Robinson Cano drove in Mark Teixeira with a single in the first inning.

With the game tied at one in the fifth inning, Jayson Nix drove in Ichiro Suzuki with a single to right field. Nix would later drive in Gardner in the seventh inning to make it a 3-1 game.

Mariano Rivera closed the game out in the ninth to earn his twenty second save of the season.

The Yankees and Mariners will conclude their four-game series tomorrow.
