Yanks' Offense Struggles in Loss to Red Sox

The Yankees were unable to capitalize when they had opportunities tonight as they were defeated 4-3 by the Red Sox.

Hiroki Kuroda started tonight and he was decent. Kuroda allowe 3 runs on 8 hits in 6 1/3 innings of work. He struck out 6 and did not issue a walk. Kuroda, just like many of the other starters, gave up the lead after the offense took the lead.

Derek Jeter drove in two of their three runs tonight as he had a big two-run double in the sixth inning.

The Yankees were unable to hold down the Red Sox in the ninth inning with the game tied. David Robertson suffered the loss as the Jacoby Ellsbury hit a walk-off single.

The Yankees and Red Sox will continue their three game set tomorrow night.

The Yankees cruised passed the Orioles on Sunday when they defeated them 13-3. The Yankees bats came alive as they were able to split the four game set and take back sole possession of first place in the American League East.

Freddy Garcia started for the Yankees and he didn't last very long. Garcia allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in 3 1/3 innings of work. He struck 1 and walked 1. Garcia was pulled after throwing 52 pitches, in which 35 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee bullpen was stellar as they only allowed 1 hit in 5 2/3 innings of work.

Curtis Granderson led the offense today as he went 3-3 and drove in five runs. Granderson pinch-hit for Andruw Jones in the sixth inning.

Derek Jeter collected two more hits in  four at-bats to increase his average to .324 on the season.

The Yankees will conclude their road trip after an off-day on Monday when they begin a three game set with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
