For a fifth consecutive game, the Yankees have been in the middle of the infield shaking hands as they increased their win streak to five with their 4-2 win over the Royals. Vernon Wells and Robinson Cano supported Hiroki Kuroda with two RBI's each in the win over the Royals. Kuroda defeated the Royals for the first time in his career today and with it, he picked up his fifth win of the season.

Hiroki Kuroda allowed two runs on six hits in seven and two thirds innings of work. He struck out one and walked only one. He completed his start with 98 pitches thrown and 66 of them were for strikes.

Robinson Cano and Vernon Wells kept the Yankee offense going today with their pair of runs batted in. Cano collected two hits, while Wells collected three hits.

Mariano Rivera locked down the win and notched his 15th save of the season.

The Yankees are scheduled to visit the Cleveland Indians tomorrow and they will play a doubleheader.

The Yankees were given a big boost tonight as Vernon Wells drilled a go-ahead two-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead., which would end up being the final score.

Andy Pettitte returned to form tonight after to shaky outings as he allowed two runs on five hits in seven innings of work. He struck out seven and walked only one. He finished his outing with 100 pitches thrown, in which 68 of them were for strikes.

Mariano Rivera notched his fourteenth save of this season tonight with his scoreless ninth inning.

The Yankees and Royals will conclude their three game set tomorrow afternoon.

The Yankees defeated the Royals 11-6 on Friday night as Lyle Overbay collected four hits and drove in five runs. Phil Hughes collected his second win of the season tonight, however he wasn't very sharp.

Hughes allowed six runs on seven hits in five and two thirds innings of work. He struck out three and walked two. He finished his outing with 98 pitches thrown, in which 70 of them were for strikes.

The Yankee offense jumped on Royals pitching tonight. They plated four runs in the second inning and added five more in the sixth inning. Six players in the Yankees starting lineup collected multiple hits.

Shawn Kelley and Boone Logan came out of the bullpen tonight and they were excellent. In three and a third innings of work, they did not allow a hit and they struck out eight.

The Yankees and Royals will continue their series tomorrow night.
