The Yankees and Red Sox were unable to finish their game as rain forced the game to be called in the sixth inning, which led the Red Sox to secure the 3-0 victory.

Hiroki Kuroda started for the Yankees and it wasn't one of his best starts. Kuroda allowed three runs on eight hits in five and a third innings of work. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. He finished his outing with 95 pitches, in which 62 of them were for strikes.

The game did not start on time as it was delayed for about 45 minutes, even though it never rained at all. The second delay game in the sixth inning with one out. After that delay, Kuroda did not come back out to pitch. Boone Logan replaced him and he finished out the top half of the sixth inning. The bottom half of the sixth was never played due to rain.

The Yankees were unable to clinch the series win on Saturday as they were defeated 11-1 by the Red Sox. Phil Hughes started for the Yankees and he struggled as he suffered the loss. The Yankee offense also failed to get going tonight as they scored just one run on six hits.

Hughes allowed five runs on seven hits in four and a third innings of work. He struck out seven and walked two. Hughes fell apart in the third inning when he allowed five runs. The big knock in the inning was a grand-slam by Mike Napoli.

The Yankee offense was silent tonight. Chris Stewart accounted for the Yankees only run as he drove in Jayson Nix in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly.

The Yankees and Red Sox will conclude their three-game series tomorrow night.
